Cruising Areas

Our yachts are based at Kos Marina for Summer charter, taking advantage of the fabulous sailing conditions provided by the Eastern Mediterranean. Winter charter is available out of Grenada – the perfect base to explore the Caribbean.

Mediterranean Yacht Charter

Our yachts are available for charter at Kos Marina Greece during the Summer months. There are direct flights from the UK to Kos airport from April to October, the marina is only a further 30 minutes by taxi. The weather conditions in this part of the Eastern Mediterranean are superb for sailing with force 4-5 NW’ly being the norm. Even within Greece the Dodecanese are known as one of the sunniest areas with the best weather. In July and August the “Meltemi” can blow at F6-F8 for several days with no change to the hot sunny weather! This takes a bit of getting used to as this wind will blow all day and all night, it is certainly ideal for a fast passage downwind.

Kos is part of the Dodecanese chain of islands with a myriad of great anchorages and short day sails within easy reach. This area remains beautifully unspoilt and there are no fees for anchoring or picking up a mooring, harbour berthing fees are minimal and water and electricity are usually available. We can provide a cruising itinerary and we also recommend various Taverna’s and Restaurants ( look out for the DSY flag on display) which provide excellent standards. However wherever you venture to you will be met with a warm welcome in this most people friendly region. If your route is North then Kalymnos, Leros, Lipsi, Arki, Patmos and Samos ( Pithagorian) are all within range. If Southbound you should visit Nisyros (Palon), Tilos, Symi, Chalki and Rhodes. There is a West route to Santorini using Astypalea as your first port West of Kos which can be completed in a week. The Turkish coast is never far away with lots of brilliant anchorages along with bigger towns such as Bodrum and Marmaris. There are many charming natural anchorages and bays along the Turkish coast where you will receive a very friendly reception from the local people, many of these will have restaurants and mooring facilities. You must clear in and out of Turkey and have an agent complete the Transit log and necessary visas, this is possible at Bodrum, Datca and Marmaris. We produce our own cruising guide of favourite locations which we can send you, there will also be a copy onboard.

Caribbean Yacht Charter

In conjunction with Horizon Yachts we will be offering charters from their base at the True Blue Bay Resort and Marina at the South end of the Island of Grenada. This base is 5 minutes drive from Maurice Bishop International Airport. Grenada is known as the “spice of the Caribbean” and from here you can cruise the Grenadines. There are hundreds of tiny islands sprinkled over 60 miles making this one of the world’s great cruising areas. Carriacou, Bequia and Mustique are all in easy range of our base. There are regular direct flights to Grenada from the UK with Virgin and British Airways. The prevailing winds are NE’ly trade winds which normally blow at F4-6 making for exhilarating sailing conditions.
